The Care and Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls, written by Valorie Lee Schaefer, is a book that teaches girls about growing up, taking care of their bodies, and staying healthy. It’s meant for kids who are eight years old and older and talks about puberty and how to keep their bodies clean. The book doesn’t talk about sex or romance. It was first published in 1998 by American Girl, a company known for its dolls, as part of their Advice Library.

Since it came out, the book has been loved by many people and has become a bestseller on The New York Times list multiple times. In 2013, an updated version of the book was released, along with a sequel called The Care and Keeping of You 2: The Body Book for Older Girls.
